About Me

My teaching career started from when I was still in art school, the first place I taught was at the Art Creations Center Of The Institute For The Intellectual Development Of Children And Young Adults.

From 1984 to 1988 in Tehran’s Visual Arts Conservatory.

After elementary education, I went to art school and in 1988 I graduated with a high degree in sculpture.

From 1988 to 1994 in Tehran University of the Arts.

I entered the University of the Arts in 1988 and continued my studies in cinema.

In 1998, I made my first short film, Two Sisters, which won seven domestic and international awards. Including the Grand prize of Liechtenstein Festival, Silver Medal of the International Union of Non-Professional Cinema (UNICA) in the Netherlands and the Golden Bear of the Ebenezer Festival in Austria.

Writer and Director in “Unwritten Letter” Short film.

The Unwritten Letter which was produced by the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, won the Gold Award at the Houston International Film Festival and the Best Short Film Award at the 48th Asia-Pacific Film Festival and participated in the Cannes Jr. Film Festival in France.

Director in “WE ARE ALL FINE” Feature film.

In 2005 I directed my first feature movie called “We Are All Fine” based on my own written screenplay. In the same year it was nominated for an award in seven categories at the Fajr Film Festival and won 4 main awards. The film was selected in 2005 as the opening film of the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, and won the Silver Cheetah Award as well as the International Critics’ Award.

My second movie called “Rooz Bar miaiad” (The day looms) was made in 2007 based on another screenplay I wrote. The movie is about a young woman who was jailed for her political activities and encounters her torturer after being released from prison.

Director and Writer in “Hell, Purgatory, Paradise” .

In 2008, I directed my third feature film named “Doozakh, Barzakh, Behesht” (Hell, Purgatory, Paradise) which was again based on my own written screenplays. In three episodes, the film tells the story of three couples at different stages of their life together.

In 2009, I wrote and directed my fourth feature film, “The Third Floor”. In 2010 this film was nominated for a the grand prize of the Warsaw Film festival in Poland and won other awards.

This series is about a law office that is owned by Davaran family. Each episode goes through the struggles each lawyer goes through.

Second Unit Director in” Mohammad, The prophet of Allah”

In 2013, I was the Second Unit Director and the screen play advisor of one of the most remarkable historical movies called “Muhammad: The Messenger of God ”. The production and post-production stages of this historic project took about a year. This movie tells the story of the childhood of the Prophet Muhammad.

Director in “The Hidden Pain” Series

In 2018, I started writing and producing a 20-episode series named “ Ranj Penhan series” (The Hidden Pain), which was finished in the same year. The story of this series is about the political struggles of the anti-government oppositions groups before the Iranian revolution and the impact this struggles had on their personal lives.

Between 2019 and 2022, I produced the documentary films “Residence of Naroon House”, & “ABADAN, The Lost City” and the movie “Sard Baad (Cold Wind)”. I also edited
“Fasele Bazgasht (Return Distance)” & “Djaei Baray e Mandan (Somewhere for Stay)”.

I was also in charge of writing “Haft Ghanoun Kheradmandi (Seven Wisdom Rules of the Internal World) “, and “Analia” series.

In 2022, the “WANDERERS” film was written, directed, and edited by myself
On a road trip, accidentally two young people become companion together. To pass the time they start talking about different aspect of their own lives, which leads to a discussion and conflict.
